• MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES
OCTOBER 5 , 1993
TOWN HALL
Present: Peter Dinizio, Merry Sue Ahlgren, Bill Jones, Bill
Martiros, Joe Polito, Steve Greelish , Paul Griffin , Janice Mills,
Tom Fudala, Dr. Lincoln DeMoura, Carl Franceschi , DRA
Absent: Linda Murtha
MINUTES
**Mr. Griffin made a motion to accept the minutes of Sept.
28, 1993. Ms. Ahlgren seconded the motion. All members in
favor. **
DISCUSSION WITH ARCHITECT
Carl Franceschi had three things to discuss : draft table of
contents of report, status of some issues, discussion of cost re:
two meetings.
Status: continuing geotechnical investigation . They have been
very successful in getting permission from private land owners.
GZA spoke with Board of Health and DPW and obtained older aerial
photos and spoke with some older resident of the town and feel
they have a much clearer picture of what went on at that site .
They did additional test pits and did find in a few places 4-5
• feet of ashy soil and "domestic debris" . There are some soil
samples at the lab but they don't expect any surprises. At the
DPW site they were lead by local people and dug deeper and found
some. building debris ( brick , wood, concrete block) but nothing
more significant than that. At the Leary parcel they did more
test pits and in 1 zone found some old auto parts and debris.
There was nothing extensive, no volatile measurements.
It may mean they may want to limit the old dump site to
recreational fields, possibly parking but there are no safety or
health concerns. Further development of the area will require
more extensive investigation but is enough information for
general recommendation.
They did not find any groundwater contamination . Mr. Greelish
stated the Board of Health has one suspect area but does know of
any contamination. There was a 21E study completed for the
proposed subdivision on a portion of the site.
Mr. Martiros asked if the Committee will hear again from the
traffic consultant; he has more information to gather?.
Carl explained he has some more information to gather re: trip
generation. That will be included in draft of the report.
PTO MEETING: Carl cannot attend but Mr . Writtenburg , a principal
of the firm will . The Committee is second on the agenda. Meeting
begins at 7 : 00 p.m.
• OPEN FORUM - OCTOBER 23RD. Carl will attend that meeting.
Senior Center has been confirmed. Meeting will begin at 10 : 00.
1
