• MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES
OCTOBER 12 , 1993
TOWN HALL
Present: Merry Sue Ahlgren, Joe Polito, Bill Martiros, Bill
Jones, Peter Dinizio, Janice Mills,
Dr. Lincoln DeMoura, Tom Fudala, Greg Taylor
Absent: Paul Griffin, Linda Murtha, Steve Greelish
Meeting convened at 4:08 p.m.
MINUTES
**Ms. Ahlgren made a motion to accept the minutes of
October 5 , 1993. Mr. Polito seconded the motion. All
members were in favor. **
PROJECT MANAGER
Mr. Dinizio explained he spoke with Paul Griffin regarding the
project manager position . The Committee must define the scope of
services they want. How much do they want them to do, for how
long? Will they work with the architect or only on the
administrative end here at town hall ?
• Mr. Polito stated that person will wear many hats and be versed
in cost comparison, construction, administration, etc. There has
to be a trail for every dollar spent.
Mr. Dinizio thinks the Committee needs a full time
representative, someone to call when we have a question instead
of calling the architect.
Bill Martiros stated , when working on the town hall project, the
architect gave the committee all the cost options and the
committee determined if it was appropriate and cost effective.
This position seems to duplicate those services.
Mr. Polito stated this person may force the architect to consider
alternatives he may not have, so the Committee is not channeled
in one direction
Mr . Jones stated the information from Mr . Griffin outlined the
tasks this Committee must accomplish. That agency provides
services and you can choose as much or as little as you need.
There will be a great deal of contact with other agencies and
departments in town i .e. school committee, school council and
leisure services. This is a full time job for someone who has
done this before.
Chairman Dinizio suggested asking a representative from this firm
to come to a meeting and explain their services in more detail ,
and options the Committee has.
Ms. Ahlgren stated this person will give a cost effective range
. and a cost upkeep range. She wants another professional looking
1
