will be open to all town people to provide their input.
Ian had a question on who his day to day contact person should be during
the design phase . Peter will be it, as long as no one objects.
Ian has asked his subconsultants to submit their final fee proposals. He
has asked Weston and Sampson to review the sewage treatment facility
instead of Dames and Moore.
Peter explained the Town received a bill from Dr. Calabro for 30 hours, at
$65 per hour , above his fixed fee . Peter did not know he had shifted from
his fixed fee to the billable portion of the contract.
Bill Martiros asked if we need him any longer?
Paul suggested the Committee not close the door with him. We can still use
the balance of his contract if we need it.
** Bill Jones made a motion to forward Dr . Calabro ' s bill to the
Selectmen for payment and keep his contract open but if he wants to
do any further work , he will need permission from the Committee .
Merry Sue seconded the motion . All members were in favor . **
The Committee will send a letter to Dr . Calabro informing him of this
policy .
DISCUSSION WITH ARCHITECT
Mr. Frennette said today they want to discuss the open space program, the
closed space programming , review the graphic presentation and the contract
issue .
PROGRAMMING
Presently , the new total gross sq footage is 184, 827 , now that the math has
been checked .
Graphic Summary : all of the spaces are shown to a consistent scale. They
are starting to put things where they should be. You can see which spaces
belong in which house . It is a good idea to walk through this , review it,
and give the architects feedback on it.
Bill Jones said where some spaces go will be affected by the configuration
the architects choose for the building . Can you go this far unless you
also have established the configuration .
Mr . Frennette said the primary use is for you to visualize the school -
what belongs where , what is there a lot of .
Ray added that now, they need to know what things need to be in proximity
to others. Some things go in a house, some are adjacent to it, others
don ' t need to be near it.
Peter asked Joan Tavares where she wants the Indian Education space?
Joan explained this will be a Mashpee Wampanoaug Historical history
classroom and will serve all the students of the high school . It is not a
general classroom.
Ray envisions it near the library , where all students and public have
access to it.
Joan will give the architects an answer next week on the location . She
wants to talk to other people, she doesn ' t' want to give just her opinion .
2
