He
would like a check , to see if the design is achievable within the budget.
Norris explained there is a meeting tomorrow, with all in and out of house
consultants , for a cost modeling .
Paul asked SMMA if they have obtained approval for their subconsultants?
Bob said they have not . Presently , they are only using their own in house
ones .
Paul is just advising them that they do need approval of all
subconsultants .
Bob said they have not yet be able to get a contract signed .
Bob Whritenour gave him 3 copies of a revised contract for review last
Thursday . He reviewed it over the weekend and there are a few remaining
issues.
Peter suggested they supply a list of all those they intend to work with .
Bob said their proposal lists all the consultants , except Chiles , the tech
consultant. Bob will make a package of information on Chiles available to
the Committee.
Building Design :
Peter asked if the design the Committee is leaning towards appears to be
achievable within the budget? They don ' t want to go down the wrong path .
Bob said that design has an efficient net to gross , there is not a lot of
corridor. The other designs had more circulation space.
Janice explained that she feels strongly that a lighthouse is not
appropriate for a Mashpee school . It has nothing to do with the town ,
Mashpee has no port. There are a lot of other themes that have to do with
Mashpee - indians , cranberries , shellfishing . She thinks the Committee
needs to express that immediately .
Norris explained the intent was a symbolic type of entry , a focal point.
Peter added a lighthouse is typical of Cape Cod in general , we are looking
for something more typical of Mashpee . It is not our character.
Joan agreed she would like to see something unique to Mashpee - something
that will educate the students before they even enter the building .
Site Layout:
Dan Saliene walked the site again and looked at the layout considering last
meeting ' s issues - dispersing the parking as much as possible , tennis-
location and possible dispersement, football - north to south orientation ,
Insure entrance is not in shade so there will be no icing , larger buffer
between the site and 151 .
1
