They did the feasibility study for a 225 ,000 acre site. They did not want to see the building from the main street. Strict wetland laws . There was 750,000 sq feet of offices, 600 seat dining facility, 120,000 sq feet of computer rooms and 65% of the offices had to have windows . They designed it as a campus type community with a series of smaller facilities ( buildings) . They stared construction in mid 1986 and it opened in Jan. 1989, 6 months ahead of schedule. They cleared 110 acres of woodland, created a pond for the water run off. Since then, IBM has cut back on its use of the building and are leasing some of the buildings. The Director of Real estate for IBM has since left IBM and hired BTA to renovate the Prudential Center. Mr. Ricci said their vision of Mashpee high school is to create your vision .
