cumulative knowledge of how to tackle a project like this one.
Michael Pare asked about their computer networking and AV
experience?
BTA said they will have to use a consultant for that expertise.
They worked with Perlin , from New york on the IBM job. They will
discover Mashpee's needs and they find the best person to guide
them. They did design the computer facility for Stonehill
College and used a team of computer consultants.
Steve Greelish asked for a clarification of the relationship of
the 2 firms , who will do what? What are their current work loads
and how will they impact Mashpee 's project?
Mr. Ricci said they propose a joint venture. They will all be
involved in designing and construction documents phase work. BTA
is seeking work because they are about to complete the Prudential
job. All of the management people are in place and they would
have to engage some of the people to do drawing and model work.
They would enter into a contractual joint venture.
Bill Jones asked if they ran a heat loss calculation on all the
glass a the Bennington school ?
Mr. Green said they did, but it was built in 1970 when
regulations and technology was totally different. If it were
built today it wouldn ' t have all that glass. However, most of the
glass was in the corridors.
Bill asked how many CAD stations they have?
BTA has 2 complete stations and 3 people trained to operate them.
Merry Sueexplained Mashpee does not have a teaching staff to
review plans, etc. What would be their recommendation for
researching the inside of the building - layout, materials etc. ?
BTA said once they start working with Dr. Collabro's program they
can easily bring in visual images of what interiors could be.
They would use input form Bob O'Day, educational consultant.
They would do study models, to illustrate the relationship
between interior spaces.
Janice Mills said Mashpee needs expertise to work with the
building codes and State regulations, are you familiar with those
regulations or would you bring in a consultant?
They responded that State building codes are what they work with.
They have read the state educational requirements carefully and
spoke with the school board. They were concerned with the size
of the project and the time allotment. When they put together
their proposal they developed a timeline, to see if there is any
lee way in the deadline. Every city has it own code requirements
and politics and we learn to deal with it.
Joe Polito asked if any of the CAD operators were registered
Architects?
One is a registered architect.
4
