What materials do they propose <br /> using? <br /> BTA responded they will use durable materials, thick enough to be <br /> quiet. Acoustical tile, carpets, and padded furniture helps to <br /> absorb sound . They will work with an acoustical consultant to <br /> get the right blends. <br /> GRAHAM GUND ARCHITECTS <br /> Present were Graham Gund, Peter Madsen, Christine Verbitzki and <br /> John Prokos. <br /> After introducing the firm members present, they began a slide <br /> presentation. <br /> Mr. Gund explained they began by thinking about this site and <br /> talking to people in town , including the Town Planner. They <br /> presented slides and talked about some problems in the Mashpee <br /> schools. Details are important to make a school last. These <br /> buildings show some leaks. Gund Architects use continuous sloped <br /> roofs to avoid leaks . Noise is an issue as is . efficiency of the <br /> building. <br /> Examples of their work: <br /> - Waterville Valley, New Hampshire. The town center, steel <br /> construction was built for $58 sq ft. Condominiums were built <br /> for $62 sq foot. <br /> - Visitors Center at Plimouth Plantation, is comfortable in its <br /> surroundings. Has interior courtyard. <br /> - Natural History Museum, Atlanta. 4 stories but only 2 are seen <br /> from the front entry . The building is shaped to the landscape. <br /> Well lit around the entrance. <br /> - Library in Lincoln . Addition which is 2 1/2 times larger than <br /> the original building. <br /> - Davidson College- Art building. Sophisticated equipment to <br /> eliminate toxic fumes. A lot of natural light. <br /> - Symsbury, Conn. High School , new theater with 400 seats. 3 <br /> tiered - all seats are within 40 feet of the stage. <br /> - Theater in Washington D.C. <br /> - boathouse for Northeastern on the Charles River. <br /> - Pool - door and roof slide back to become an outdoor pool . <br /> Triple panned glass. <br /> - Boston Ballet Building built for $100 sq foot. <br /> - Lawrenceville School - new library. <br /> They did a water color rendering of the reading room, it helps to <br /> sell the idea to the community. <br /> - Lincoln School in Brookline. K-8. Built for $120 sq ft. Red <br /> brick with stone trim and slate roof. Has already won an award. <br /> There is no paint on the exterior and very little on the <br /> interior. The gym has a wood ceiling. There is a central space <br /> at the end of the corridor.
