of the plant said it would not be a problem.
They also questioned the treatment of the swimming pool and the
disinfectant treatment.
Bob Fournier said they have asked DeFaoe Wait and Pare to look into putting
the mechanical operation in the building .
These groups also had some questions :
- Site runoff , how will it be handled? Mr . Baxter explained they have not
addressed that yet . Their concern is impact on groundwater quality.
- irrigation plans for the fields and what it will do to the nitrogen
loading .
- do we plan to use grey water for flushing or irrigation? Tom Fudala
explained the fields are in a Zone II , will DEP allow it? Dick Baxter
explained there is also a cost associated with that.
- They asked that energy conservation be given consideration .
- They want to know where future expansion will be .
Fee Account - SMMA submitted a bill for $13 , 130 . 15 . Ian recommends
payment.
** Merry Sue made a motion that the Committee forward the SMMA fee
account for $13 , 130 . 15 to the Selectmen for payment. Joe seconded
the motion . All members were in favor. **
DISCUSSION WITH ARCHITECT: REVISED FLOOR PLAN
Ed Frenette explained they think they have accommodated all the concerns
voiced at the last meeting . This plan has the potential to be a 3 house
plan , depending on how you deal with the middle school .
Ray reviewed the revised plans - 2 schemes . He feels they have addressed
many of the goals - there are a lot of relationships to met, the budget
goal , the schedule goal , Cape Cod goal , school for next century goal .
The 2 schemes are very similar in the main body , both are at 183 , 000 sq ft.
The pool is shown on the plan .
Option 1 - all science labs are on the second floor - the major difference.
The house officer is closer to the main office.
Option 2 - house officers have moved even closer to main office. Labs are
on 2 floors .
They have added a porch outside of the dining area, which doubles as a
covered walkway for pedestrian dropoff .
The Leisure Service office can control the theater , gym and 1 house of
classrooms and is close to administration and front entry .
Expansion can happen in 3 places if it has to. An addition at the end of
each house, 4 rooms on each floor would provide for 1 , 500 students.
Bill Jones thinks that is a very valuable asset and could cover the
requirement for an additional elementary school .
Paul suggested they prepare a scheme showing the additions .
There is NO LIGHTHOUSE !
A vaulted roof is a strong symbol of the Cape .
The administration area is on the first floor of the "ship" space . It is a
strong civic , public image for the school . It is also a very prominent
location for Indian Education . The media center on the second floor looks
out over the site .
5
