A consultant <br /> charges 5% of everything he orders . <br /> Merry Sue said they will prepare a generic list . over the next year they <br /> can meet with manufacturers and pick out specific items . <br /> Paul suggested contacting recently completed high schools (Wareham, <br /> Nantucket) to see what they ordered and how it is working . <br /> If the Committee is responsible for ordering , how will we be sure <br /> everything matches? <br /> Paul said the architects are responsible for reviewing the specs to be sure <br /> it all matches. <br /> Bill Jones said we can save substantial amounts of money if we try to tract <br /> the demography and don ' t equip empty rooms . <br /> Paul explained to get your money from the State you have to spend the money <br /> and have everything delivered before you close out the project . It is a <br /> practical idea but the State does not operate that way . <br /> Peter said when the building opens , it will be fully furnished . <br /> Michael Pare , Steve Greelish and Mike Peitrowski are meeting on Friday to <br /> begin their work . <br /> Peter asked Michael how he feels about Childs? <br /> Michael said they look good on paper . They have submitted a full service <br /> package . This subcommittee will be directing them. <br /> Paul said he agrees with Bill that some equipment, like computers are age <br /> sensitive and should not be purchased on day one . <br /> Peter asked if we will tell the consultant what type of educational program <br /> we are looking for and the consultant will meet that? <br /> Michael said yes . The subcommittee will meet with Dr . DeMoura about that. <br /> Mike Peitrowksi is putting together people from the Middle School - <br /> librarian , etc . for input. <br /> Steve said they will also research trends , what will be useful for the <br /> longest amount of time . <br /> Will there be TV monitors in every room? <br /> Michael said it depends on the money . <br /> Paul said at the Michigan school you really have a sense of what was going <br /> on in the building with the TV monitor. It was very efficient. <br /> He said that is where he would like to see the money spent - on fit up. <br /> Bill Martiros agreed but we also have to be concerned about life costs of <br /> the building , money will have to go into that. <br /> Land Negotiations : Peter met with the Housing Authority about their 3 acres <br /> and there will be another meeting next week . The Committee must establish <br /> a subcommittee for land negotiations . Paul Griffin will be this <br /> Committee ' s liaison . <br /> Bill Jones submitted his letter of resignation from the Committee . <br /> Paul suggested tabling any action on that. He said Bill offers a lot of <br /> good input. He enjoys having Bill here . Personally , he would like to talk <br /> to him and see if he would reconsider . He does not want him to resign <br /> because he is frustrated , if he feels he can ' t do it that is another <br /> matter . He does not. want Bill to feel we are forcing him out . <br /> Janice agrees . Bill has an incredible amount of expertise. <br /> Ian said that Bill would like to see more information up front.
