Merry Sue seconded the motion. All members were in
favor. **
The Committee then developed questions for each of the firms.
See invitation letters.
Joe asked if the firms will be allowed to read the educational
program? It will be added to the letter that the educational
program is available at the Superintendent's office.
Bob Govoni was present and spoke to the Committee. He explained
he is running for Selectmen and has sat in on these meeting the
last two weeks. He is very impressed with the job this Committee
is doing. Until tonight he felt they were going in a forward
motion but tonight have gone backwards one step . Tonight I think
you second guessed yourselves. Your ultimate goal is to ask the
Selectmen to pick your beat choice. Your top two choice tonight
will probably be in the top after next week. I don 't think you
should pick an architectural firm to please the Selectmen , you
should pick one that will benefit the town of Mashpee.
Peter explained that some people on the Committee want to go with
a fourth candidate because SMMA may meet the same fate of Design
Partnership because we have not yet done any site visits. The
consensus of the Committee was to go with 4 firms. Your point is
well taken about not getting cold feet, like the Selectmen have.
Mr. Govoni added this is the only Committee he has seen that
researches their job so thoroughly. You should please
yourselves .
Peter said this Committee must realize there are a lot of people
backing us in this town right now. The Committee should be
reminded we can act more confidently.
*******
NEW BUSINESS
Bill Martiros said at the last meeting the alternate members
voted on their choice of architect, if that is a problem we
should rescind that vote .
Merry Sue noted last week was only a straw poll . Tonight's vote
was a motion voted on only by full Committee members.
Janice Mills noted is it is nice that everyone on this Committee
has a say.
OLD BUSINESS ******
Project Manager.
Should the Committee schedule interviews for Project Managers?
Merry Sue suggested 2 weeks from tonight.
How long should the interviews be? The Committee agreed 45
minutes is sufficient, scheduling 1 hour slots.
Is there any firm that should be disqualified, before the
interviews?
Paul Griffin read the proposals and said legally no one should be
5
