Seaman Bratko is a general contractor and
has handled thousands of projects for themselves.
Bellingham Library.
Historical renovation of library in Everett.
Griswold school - $22 million.
The State of Conn . now mandates that a project of more than $ 4 million
must hire a construction manager. We feel it is a great way to go.
Paul Griffin clarified for them that Committee is looking for a project
manager, not a construction manager . The town must hire a general
contractor with all the filed sub-bids .
Mr. Seaman said that was not his understanding but that is fine. Seaman
Bratko will still furnish some of the functions but we will administer them
through your general contractor. The services are the same but not as
extensive .
Mr. Seaman said they are here to answer any questions of the Committee.
They have submitted all their information and brochures and showed the tape
to tell the Committee about the company.
Peter asked if they have done any work similar to what this Committee is
asking for?
Mr. Seaman said everyday , in all of their jobs. We will be the mediator
between the architect, general contractor and Committee. We will give our
opinion on what is going on.
Peter asked if they worked with the architect during the design phase at
the Griswold job? They said they did .
Merry Sue asked what do you do with the architect during the design phase?
Mr. Seaman said they worked with them on how the design would be put
together , how the construction documents would be put together , look for
things which might cause conflict later on . They look for less expensive
ways to do things , suggest it and talk about it and tell the Committee
about it. Aesthetically we can ' t tell him how to design his building , the
Committee picked them because you like their style, but we can give them
input on the details and on cost effective suggestions.
1
