MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 1 , 1994 TOWN HALL Members Present: Merry Sue Ahlgren, Joe Polito, Bill Martiros, Paul Griffin, Janice Mills, Peter Dinizio Also Present: Tom Wren, Ian Aitchison , Ed Frenette, Bob Fournier, Bill Hauck, Dr. Lincoln DeMoura Absent: Steve Greelish, Joan Avant Tavares Meeting convened at 4: 14 p.m. MINUTES ** Merry Sue made a motion to approve the minutes of Oct. 25 , 1994 . Janice seconded the motion. Merry Sue re-iterated the thank yous to SMMA for hosting the meeting , Bill Martiros for driving and Dr. DeMoura for lending the vehicle. Tom Wren said on pg. 6 the figures don' t add up. That is true, but they were the figures given at the meeting on the 25th. ** All members in favor. ** COMMITTEE DISCUSSION - Paul received a letter form Canteen outlining the savings which could be achieved with a central kitchen. They estimate an annual savings of $17, 388. With the present design of the high school kitchen , the School Department has that option . - Dr. DeMoura said there was a motion by the Board of Selectmen to move the Superintendent's office to their space. He has a problem putting 3 offices in the Selectmen's space, it won 't fit. There had been informal conversations with this Committee that there may be space for the Superintendent in the high school . He needs to know if there will or will not be. His options will have to be presented to the School Committee. - Dr. DeMoura said he got the impression the only outdoor storage space is the "garage" attached to the STP, large enough for a truck. If there is no other outdoor storage for equipment than the School Department will have to contract out that work. Paul explained they are waiting for a list from Greg Taylor on what equipment would be needed and it' s size. The architects can then evaluate what size storage is needed. Dr. DeMoura said it may be cheaper to contract out the service and that should be explored. Everyone agreed. Paul commented on the Superintendent's office space. That space is not covered under the State's reimbursement allowance. Presently it is not included as part of the scope of the high school . There are 2 options - he can lease property or he could use some of the space that will be empty for 3-4 years in the high school . The Committee did not look specifically at how that would work . Peter explained at Nantucket High School , through a change order at the end of the project, they included space for the Superintendent at the end of 1
