Also, he doesn 't want to have to move his office every year. Paul said in another 60-90 days, they will have the construction documents plans and will review it to see what can be done to house the Superintendent. Whether it is worthwhile to move into the high school for a few years is up to him. Dr. Demoura said the Board of Selectmen want him to move within this fiscal year. Peter said it was not an official vote of the Board. Bob Whritenour is looking at the building in total to determine the most efficient use of space. Bill Martiros suggested having one common area for storage for all 3 schools, since they are close together. Paul said the equipment would have to be put on a trailer to move it. Dr. DeMoura said presently, they only have a riding lawnmower, all the other equipment has to be purchased. Bill Hauck said if the storage is attached to the treatment plant it may require it to be sprinklered. Anything over 7 , 500 sq feet would have to be sprinklered. It is something to keep in mind . MEETING WITH FURNITURE CONSULTANT - MANNY TAVARES Mr. Tavares was present to give an overview of what goes into the furniture consulting job. He is an independent, professional consultant, with no affiliation to any manufacturer. There are 3 major groupings: a. That in the general contract - physically attached to the building. B. Furniture items - occupies floor space but it not attached . There are 6- 7 major categories. C. Group 3 Miscellaneous - there are about 20 bidding categories including the science apparatus, miscellaneous teaching aids, hand tools, etc. He will develop a room list for each space in the building. To reach a determination of needs for each department, there needs to be specific input form the Committee and Department Heads. Every school is different. From that information he develops a bidding document. The Bidding is done in 3 different phases: - furniture at one time - remaining group 3 are dividing into 2 separate packages because of the amount of items. Bid documents include specifications for each category of equipment, including a description of each item. He usually includes a make and model for reference - to show a minimum standard of quality for that item. There are 3 distinct levels of quality. In New England, there are 5-6 companies that bid on a project like this. The bid packages are advertised locally, through the Sec. of State office and usually distributed from Tavares office. He asks for any local vendors that may be interested and gets the documents to them. He attends the bid opening, assists in anyway the Committee wants him to. One copy of the 2
