Paul said 10-15% is worth the work of a variance . He said everyone should
do their homework before having another meeting .
Ed Frenette said the Committee should consider how the variance may effect
the ENF or any other permitting they have to do. It could put some design
work at risk.
Bob Fournier asked the Committee what they want SMMA to do?
The Committee wants to know what will be the impact of lowering the
gallonage of the treatment plant - to about 15 , 000 gallons per day? How
will it effect the budget? What, if any , are the savings? How will it
effect the project? What if we get refused from DEP, how does that effect
the project time wise? What are the options , i . e . build a large building
but smaller pumps at first?
Steve said the pool must be included in this analysis .
Bob Fournier said the pool water will not be put through the plant , it
would be discharged in another way .
Ian said there will be a meeting with Steve, Elias McQuaid and the project
engineers before coming back to the Committee with a cost benefit analysis .
- Letter form, Ian to SMMA, authorizing them to proceed with the design
development phase. The $110 per square foot will not be exceeded without
approval of the Committee
- Paul explained Bob Fournier sent a letter to Chartwell asking if value
management items meet the criteria of the Committee . Paul found several
items that did not:
03-7 reduce cedar siding by 20% . The Committee wanted to review all of the
exterior , no choices have been made.
- reduce canopy , everyone agreed some changes could be made . flay wanted to
re-look at it and bring it back to the Committee .
06-3 Committee agreed with reduction of terrazo floor . They agreed rubber
floor are a good alternative but want to look at the architect ' s
recommendation .
06-6A acoustical metal deck over the gym. Committee agreed we need more
acoustical value , that was just one suggestion .
- reduce ceiling tile and paint metal decking in classrooms .
Not sure the Committee agreed to this .
Bob said they recommend eliminating the ceiling on the second floor only .
The Committee needs to see the changes to the ceiling first , they need more
input.
06- 12 metal stud and gypsum wallboard at corridor wall .
Paul said the Committee agreed the corridor walls should be durable .
Bob said this is just behind the lockers . It is a cost savings.
8A-28- emergency generator issue. This is under complete study . No
decision has been made .
8B-4 eliminate multi level switch in the administration office .
Paul said he is not sure it is a great value if it will save electricity .
- eliminate satellite antenna- agreed the antenna would go to the F & E
budget and design should provide infrastructure for it .
11 - 1A & B - parking . The Committee did not come to a resolution , they need
more data.
Peter read a letter from the Building Inspector . SMMA will be applying for
3
