HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1994 TOWN HALL Members Present: Joe Polito, Paul Griffin, Steve Greelish, Peter Dinizio, Merry Sue Ahlgren, Janice Mills, Bill Martiros Also Present: Greg Taylor, Bill Hauck, Tom Fudala, Gus Fredricks, Bob Fournier, Tom Wren, Bob Whritenour, Bill Cavanaugh, Dr. DeMoura Meeting convened at 4 : 10 p.m. Anne Shaw, Town Treasurer, asked the Committee for an updated cash flow scheduled. She must know, as soon as possible, when she has to borrow again. Tom Wren will forward it to her by the end of the month . MINUTES ** Merry Sue made a motion to approve the minutes of October 5 , 1994. Paul seconded the motion. Bob had some corrections: pg. 2 Site Development. They have NOT received authorization to go into the Brynwood property. pg. 2 There will be a PRE- bid meeting. Pg 3. sinks - NO sink in the mailroom itself. Pg 5 - #23 Door finish HARDWARE. Pg 7 - Rizzo and WOODARD. ** Motion to approve the minutes as amended. All members were in favor 6-0.** COMMITTEE DISCUSSION Peter read a letter from Michael Pare which stated, due to time constraints, he must resign from the Committee. Mr. John Pelligrino was present to discuss with the Committee concerns he has about traffic on Rte 151 . Traffic is very heavy and fast on that road now. Getting out from the side streets is a problem. What does the Committee propose to do with that road? After the school is built and the lights are in it will be to late for his input. Peter explained the Committee is doing a traffic study. The previous architectural firm also did a traffic study for the site selection process. This Committee is working with Greg Taylor, DPW Director. SMMA is retaining a consultant to do a traffic study. Mr. Pelligrino said he is looking for the speed limit to be cut down. Peter said that is an issue for Greg Taylor. This Committee has no jurisdiction. Greg said preventing accidents on the road are an enforcement issue. The signal will help mitigate that somewhat. Lowering the speed limit does not slow down the traffic, enforcement does. Mr. Pelligrino had concerns about the line of site and clearing on the corner of Old Barnstable Road. Peter explained he should talk to the DPW Director about any current concerns he has about the road. If it is not rectified he can go to the Board of Selectmen . He asked Mr. Pelligrino if he wants to have input on the re-design of the intersection? He said he does. Bob Fournier explained at this point, a proposal has been submitted for a traffic study and it will also make recommendations for improvement. He 1
