The following items are required to expand the air conditioning throughout the
building:
1. Present chiller and cooling tower are sized for the indicated air conditioned spaces. The future
expansion would require an additional chiller and cooling tower. The present cooling tower would
be replaced with a tower at the capacity required or a additional unit would be purchased, either
scenario the cooling tower would be placed on the roof and the new chiller would be located in the
existing cooling tower space. New transfer pumps would be required between chiller and the
cooling tower. New controls and modification of the existing controls, piping would be required.
2. The pumps for the chilled water would be replaced. The chilled water supply and return lines to
remain with new tap for equipment connection.
3. Classroom unit ventilators are selected based on heating only, two pipe system. For future cooling,
the units ventilators would require adding a cooling coil, piping the chilled water to the individual
units, valves and modifications to the present control programs.
4. Air handling presently for heating and ventilation will be selected on heating/cooling models (blank
section for cooling coil &drain pan) so future expansion (adding a cooling coil) to the units would
only require piping, valves, cooling coil and modifications to the present controls.
i 5. Gas fired units would require installing a duct mounted cooling coil with drip pan, piping, valves,
modification to the ductwork and the present controls.
6. Present primary and secondary electric services are based on a 183,000 s.f. school with partial air-
conditioning and a future pool building. The expansion of the air-conditioning system to cover the
entire building would increase the size of the primary and secondary services.
7. The schools primary service presently requires a concrete pad for a 2,000 KVA pad-mounted
transformer which would have to be upgraded to accommodate a 2,500 KVA pad-mounted
transformer.
1000 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge Minneapolis Young Quinlan Building 81 South Xinth Street.
Suite 330
com6ridge.Massachusetts 0 1 1 3 8 – Minneapolis.Minnesota S S 4 0 2
617 .547 .5400 Fav : 354 .5158 612 .33'2 .3654 F a x :3 3 2 .3 6 2 6
