The schools secondary service presently requires a 3,000 ampere switchboard which would have to
be upgraded to a 4,000 ampere switchboard. In addition, the quantity of parallel secondary
conductors will have to be increased to accommodate the larger size service
9. Electrical feeders and branch circuits to existing and/or new mechanical equipment would have to
be removed, relocated, upgraded and added as required to support the air-conditioning expansion
(i.e. chiller, cooling tower, transfer pumps, etc.).
10. The following is a list of recommended minimum electrical requirements which should occur on
day one to accommodate the future air conditioning expansion:
a) Oversize transformer pad to accommodate larger transformer.
b) Provide the appropriate number of secondary conduits to support a 4,000 ampere switchboard.
c) Purchase a 4,000 ampere switchboard with a 4,000 ampere frame main circuit breaker with
interchangeable and/or adjustable trip.
ED/hdr\n-acexp.doc
Symmes Maini and McKee Associates,Inc.
