project comes in over budget, there is no fall back .
'Joan does not want to see the community gym go. The town may support
' ncreased funding for adding outdoor facilities.
aul is uneasy with the thought of going to town meeting . He will
ntertain it if the Committee gets more answers . The Committee promised the
own we could do the project, the Committee needs to give them a
esponsible answer . Should this 7 member Committee decide how to spend the
axpayers money?
teve said he will be gone (as a member of the Committee) if that is what
he Committee decides- to ask the town to pay for additional alternates .
his Committee was brought here to decide - to make those choices . That
ecision would assassinate this whole Committee.
ill agreed the town ' s confidence in this Committee will go down to
othing .
aul said Chartwell has asked a construction firm to give the Committee an
stimate . There were details missing on the drawings , there is a question
if the drawings were efficient enough for a good estimate . It will be 10-
4 days before they are complete . This Committee has to decide what they
ant to do. He does not know how to cut $1 . 5 million . The only feasible
ay is to eliminate all of these two lists .
ven is you cut the gym it is $1 . 1 million off.
erry .Sue said on page 1 she cannot abide by #8 &9 .
he Committee reviewed all the suggested deletions again .
They agreed to eliminate all expect 8 , 9 and 13 .
Peter asked if the Committee agreed they want to increase the FF&E budget
by $1 million?
Paul said he took 1 /2 of what Manny Tavares is asking for , he wants $2
million more than is budgeted .
The architects returned . Paul explained the Committee would like SMMA to
go back and look for additional engineering items that may be over designed
and a secondary review of the estimate.
Suggested deletions : #8 , 9 and 13 the Committee is not willing to cut. They
can delete everything else .
Alternates list - for today , the first to be cut and first to be added back
in is the auxiliary gym.
Paul explained the Committee has to decide if they need a bigger cushion .
He told SMMA he is upset with Manny Tavares ; he asked him for the FF&E
estimate for today and he promised he would deliver it.
Based on his last estimate, from which he cut Childs estimate by $ . 5
million , it was $4 . 5 million . The Committee has $2 . 8 million .
The Committee needs , from the project, $1 million for FF&E and $600 , 000 for
construction .
Ed said the Committee has to prioritize the alternates . It is going to take
architects and engineers to figure how to eliminate the gym.
8
