They are welcome to bring it up with town counsel again .
Mr . Brooks said it becomes an expense issue for them if they cannot use
him. They will have to bring in people from New Jersey.
Joel asked if their proposal will be modified pending a resolution of this
issue?
Mr. Brooks said it will not , they have a $10 , 000 cap for expenses .
- They have a curriculum consultant , Ralph Grub, but was confused as to
what he would do until Mr . Brooks spoke with Dr. DeMoura and now has a more
realistic handle on it . According to Dr . DeMoura, the curriculum
consultant will give general direction for courses , guidelines for training
teachers .
Paul said the Committee agrees , it is not to develop curriculum but
identify software in each part of the curriculum. The Superintendent and
Principal will need advice , an overview.
Mr. Brooks asked if the Committee had contacted Digital yet? They have an
educational systems program, it is a good place to get information and get
a head start .
Mr. Brooks said there is a gap , between the report and what was generated'
on the drawings . It is not clear to him where that information came from,
there is nothing in writing on how that determination was made .
'Merry Sue explained there was a series of meetings , between CCR, Manny
Tavares ( furniture consultant ) , Childs and the architects .
IHe said there are some things in the report he has a problem with
- 8MM video is a dead format and he expects the manufacturers to pull the
plug on it .
- you cannot depend on CD Rom for video .
- he doesn' t recommend investment in 16 mm film.
- he does not recommend investment in overhead projectors .
He is concerned about the budget numbers . $80 , 000 for a TV studio seems
' thin but he does not have all the details - line items .
Paul explained this Committee has nothing set in stone , except the
linfrastructure . The Committee wants this consultant to make decisions in
'conjunction with the Superintendent and Principal .
Joel said the RFP asked this consultant to review and update that plan.
IMr. Brooks discussed his proposed schedule :
about 60 days to prepare the technical report , with equipment budget and
(contingency plan. He will allow about 30 days to review that , make changes
Mand re-issue it ( 90 total days until report approved) . He then proposes an
iadditional 60 days to prepare the bid drawings and specs , and another 2
(weeks for review by all parties . A 3 week bid process , then award of the
'bid . Contractor has 60 days from receipt of approval and another 60 days on
site , which may parallel each other. Another 15 days for system checks . A
total of 342 days but some may be folded into each other.
He included extensive language about substitution and changes in his
documents . He includes a clause that the owner has the right to use the
, equipment and can use it without acceptance . After acceptance the warranty
7
