lequipment , others don ' t . <br /> Their is a training allowance in his proposal however, they will depend on <br /> the systems contractor. They will take advantage of all of the methods . <br /> Bill asked if there is anyway to get equipment from only established <br /> companies? <br /> Mr. Brooks said as the technical consultant , they will advise the Committee <br /> on this issue . They try to choose only solid companies , you may get a good <br /> deal from a smaller company but it may not be in business in a few years . <br /> Getting parts for equipment is a serious issue . They will make a <br /> recommendation. <br />( INTERVIEW WITH CCR <br /> Michael Kirwin from CCR was present . He discussed why CCR is the logical <br />( second half of this project . He presented a diagram of how their team is <br />' constructed. Merrimac Education Center (MEC ) will be doing the curriculum <br /> training . <br /> This second phase includes telephone system and related components , data <br />, system: computers , software and video component : video processing <br />, equipment . <br /> The Committee must determine , what do they need to do , how will it meet the <br /> educational requirements , what function do you want in the classroom and <br /> what instruments do you need to do it with. <br /> CCR has worked locally, on the Cape and throughout the State . <br /> He discussed why they partnered with MEC on curriculum issues . <br /> Carol , from MEC , explained they have been in business for 27 years <br /> throughout Massachusetts . Their area of expertise is special education <br /> technology and professional development . They do hands on training for <br /> teachers . They run a graduate program at University of Fitchburg . Last year <br /> they trained 1 , 200 teachers . They have their pulse on what is happening <br /> with educational technology. They bring out the best in every teacher they <br /> train . They will help Mashpee with their mission statement , assess where <br /> the needs are with the teachers and determine where you want to go with <br /> technology and equipment . <br /> Mr . Kirwin explained the phase I work will be to develop data queries of <br /> where they need to go . It will include a summary of the infrastructure to <br /> describe the benefits and capabilities of the space . <br /> Their proposed schedule is in the proposal . <br /> Peter asked Mr. Kirwin what he thought of the work John Childs has done to <br /> date? <br /> Mr. Kirwin said it is a difficult scope because it was done before seeing <br /> anything tangible . It should be used as a point to measure change , a <br /> launching place to implement the scope . <br /> Peter asked, having done the infrastructure plan, did he feel Childs work <br /> was productive , or would he like to re-do it ; is it even pertinent? <br /> Mr . Kirwin said that program provided the fundamental direction. That will <br /> be used to build off of . It doesn ' t address curriculum planning . It is <br /> reflective of the early stages of when it was done . Some of the numbers <br /> don' t line up with the words . <br /> 9 <br />
