I
SMMA received a proposal ( forwarded to Chartwell ) from BSS to do the
survey work for the early site package for $6 , 000 plus reimbursables.
Paul would like to know what they expect for reimbursables , so it is clear.
- Phil brought color boards for the Committee' s review.
- Review list of alternates.
Paul would like to look at items , cut from the project, that the Committee
may want to add to the alternate list - as they did with the irrigation
system.
The School Committee will establish the final order at tomorrow night' s
meeting . Would this Committee like to offer any additional items?
Paul wants the irrigation and well broken out - 2 separate prices .
Steve suggested the architects bring a board with the layouts of the fields
to that meeting . Ed will be attending that meeting .
Peter would like to see the football bleachers on the list.
Paul said the School Committee has to understand they can rank them but if
they start moving the rankings around it will present problems for the
architects .
Phil agreed , they only want to change the drawings 1 time. They haven ' t
made those changes yet, once the School Committee gives them the ranking ,
that is the directive .
** Peter made a motion that tomorrow' s meeting with the School
Committee NOT be an official meeting of this Committee , it is just
to offer advise to the School Committee . Merry Sue seconded the
motion .
Discussion:
Peter said a joint meeting , with a joint vote is no longer necessary . The
j Selectmen have directed the School Committee to rank the alternates .
Paul cannot be at the meeting .
Joe said if the items this Committee asked SMMA to include, with prices,
are there, there isn ' t any business for this Committee. It is up to the
School Committee to prioritize .
Steve said he does not see an opportunity for this Committee to vote on
anything at that meeting , we will probably just answer questions and help
them prioritize. However, if this Committee shows up, and there are enough
members to represent a quorum, we have a problem. We now have a meeting
posted at the same time as their meeting . The meeting was originally
scheduled as a precaution , in case both Boards were required to vote. The
Selectmen have since changed that. He asked Peter what he was afraid of?
Peter responded that this Committee voted , 2 weeks ago, 6-1 to go out to
bid . They then passed that to the Selectmen and the Selectmen acted on
that recommendation last night. In the interim, a meeting was held with
GESS . Tomorrow night's meeting will fulfill all the requirements of that
meeting .
Steve said the biggest problem discussed at that meeting was the minimum
educational requirements must be put back into the school or there will be
no funding . He would like to know Peter' s real objection to this?
Peter said Steve was acting Chairman dur"ing the meeting with the State , now
the Chairman is back and the Committee should respect his wishes.
9
