If he is in non- <br /> conformance , it should be reported by the clerk immediately and brought to <br /> the attention of the Committee and or management company. This has to be <br /> done immediately . <br /> If there are details overlooked or misunderstood, a phone call to or a <br /> sketch from the architect can resolve it. <br /> Paul asked what he saw his role as at weekly job meetings? <br /> Mr. McLaughlin said it is very important for the Clerk to attend . The <br /> Clerk' s role is not to direct or make any decisions but to keep everyone <br /> informed of what has occurred . The Clerk and architect have to work very <br /> closely together . <br /> Janice asked how the membrane roofs he has worked with have faired? <br /> Mr. McLaughlin said when it is improperly installed , or people have dropped <br /> their tools on it and no one says anything, then there is a problem but it <br /> is easy to fix when you find it. Observation while being installed is most <br /> important. If the installer is doing something wrong, he would notify the <br /> architect immediately. <br /> Joe asked him about substitution of material? <br /> Mr. McLaughlin said generally , the architect makes the recommendation . He <br /> will observe what is coming onto the site . The Clerk gets copies of all <br /> the delivery slips . He feels that is part of his responsibility . <br /> Tom Wren asked him how he feels about reporting through and being part of <br /> the Chartwell team? <br /> He said he has no qualms about that. McLaughlin made copies of one of his typical daily reports for the <br /> Committee' s review. He developed his own reporting system, which is done <br /> by division. He keeps a log of what transpires , at what time of day . He <br /> carries a clip board with him at all times . He collects business cards <br /> from all contractors on site . <br /> The Committee told him they would be making their decision next Monday. <br /> Committee Discussion . <br /> Ed said it is critical that the chain of command of instructions be simple, <br /> straightforward and up front and that it goes to the right people . <br /> - Jim Byrne . Steve likes the direction he has come from, liked his <br /> enthusiasm. He appears to have strong organizational skills . <br /> Paul said from the letter ' s of reference he provided he appears to be a <br /> hustler and go getter. <br /> Merry Sue thought he was the most agressivley , open of the candidate. <br /> - Bill DiBartolomeo. Steve said he has a tremendous amount of experience. <br /> Ed said the Cambridge school is a nice building on a difficult site. He <br /> would have to ask HMFH how Bill is doing . <br /> Janice said the Joselin addition was built while the rest of the building <br /> 8 <br />
