It did say grey boards for video <br /> and marker, chalk is not preferred. He called four manufacturers , 2 had <br /> multipurpose boards, 2 had grey and white . Grey is used only if chalk will <br /> also be used, otherwise white is used. There are two finishes , mat and <br /> gloss. For projections and marker mat finish is recommended. Gloss boards <br /> are better for long term marker use , they will clean better. You get <br /> "ghosting" with a mat finish. <br /> It was also in the program that each classroom should have a projection <br /> screen. A rough estimate from Manny Tavares for screens is about $135 per <br /> screen $10-12 , 000 dollars total . To replace all the boards with mat is <br /> about $40 , 000 . <br /> Janice does not think the project should bear any additional cost because <br /> we clearly specified what we wanted . <br /> Paul suggested discussing the technical aspects first . <br /> Merry Sue said they wanted multipurpose board to use overheads as a <br /> teaching tool and teachers would not be writing on the boards as much. <br /> John Williams said many teachers use the boards a lot ( for writing ) and in <br /> 5-6 years they may look horrible . <br /> He suggested surveying the teachers . <br /> Paul agreed that with computer technology overheads will be used more. <br /> Steve added we also bought some LCD projection panels. <br /> Peter asked if the present boards are completely unsuitable for receiving <br /> overheads? <br /> Merry Sue said you get a big glare spot in the middle . <br /> Paul suggested talking to the manufacturer about where they have installed <br /> multi use boards and talk to those schools, how they look and work. <br /> He asked Joel to bring in literature and make a recommendation about <br /> screens . <br /> 5 <br />
