MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE MINUTES
TUESDAY,DECEMBER 17, 1996
HIGH SCHOOL
Present: Merry Sue Ahlgren,Bill Martiros, Paul Griffin, Steve Greelish,Janice Mills, Peter
Dinizio, Joe Polito
Also Present: Jim Byrne, Tom Wren,Ed Frenette,Mike Kirwin, John Williams,Dr. Lincoln
DeMoura
Meeting convened at 4:04 p.m.
MINUTES
** Merry Sue made a motion to accept the minutes of November 26, 1996. Janice seconded
the motion. All members in favor 6-0**
FF& E Technology
Mike Kirwin from CCR explained they had expected the new portable phones to work
significantly better and it did not. They are pursuing a different brand.
Video: HB had been delivering equipment all day for the studio. They said it will be complete
30 calendar days from occupancy of C &D.
Data: the remainder of the computers are coming into the building now. They are pre-configured
with software.
They have changed from CC Mail to Microsoft Exchange.
Paul asked the reason for the change?
Mike said it was the recommendation of CIC, the school is using Microsoft products and it is
easier to manage in the long run.
Paul asked about the library, does it have the ability to use multimedia?
Mike said he is working with John Williams to set up phase H.
Theresa Furfey, librarian was present. She said the card catalog has not been set up yet. She has
been told it is a networking problem. Wicham said they have done all they can, it is a
networking issue. She wants to open the library after Christmas vacation.
Paul said this problem was brought to the attention of CCR before Thanksgiving. CIC says one
thing,Wicham is saying another. That was 30 days ago and it is not resolved. The librarian is
becoming very frustrated. It may be a simple solution, or it may not,we may have to purchase
something. It is not fair to be unable to use the equipment.
Mike Kirwin said this was resolved before. CIC said it was working.
Ms Furfey said Wicham is a very good company, she has worked with them for years, she trusts
them. They said they cannot go any further because of the networking issue. They cannot set up
the card catalog. The kids have to be able to access the card catalog without getting into
administrative information.
Paul said the school is going on vacation this week. Mike Kirwin must make sure it is running
on January 2! This has been an issue for a long time. The vendors have to get together.
