1
MASHPEE HIGH SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE
DECEMBER 17, 1996
EXECUTIVE SESSION
Present: Paul Griffin, Merry Sue Ahlgren, Joe Polito,Bill Martiros, Steve Greelish, Peter
Dinizio, Janice Mills, Ed Frenette, Jim Byrne, Tom Wren
Paul explained that he does not believe Stone has any plans to work on the building over the
holiday. With this new person in charge what we've seen is what we will get. This Committee
is not going to see any more of the work Stone is supposed of perform get done.
Merry Sue asked what the value of the work that needs to be done is?
Ed Frenette is working on that. SMMA staff is going through it. At this point it is hard to say.
Paul said we want SMMA to give us the high water mark.
Peter asked what Liberty's responsibility is?
Paul said we will go after Liberty for their obligation. He wants to be sure we can live with things as they are
now in the building.
Merry Sue asked if the rolling door will be fixed?
Paul said he does not believe Stone has executed the CCD to do that work.
Bill asked at what point do we move forward with this? Let's stop wasting time and make a
motion now to terminate Stone's contract.
Ed Frenette said he would recommend waiting until after the holidays. If they don't do any work
then, it will give you another bullet in your gun.
Paul said town counsel has devised a strategy and because of the timeframe required for
notifications, we were going to use the holidays to let the timetable tick away. He would like
the Selectmen to meet next week to vote on this.
Merry Sue asked what was left in their contract that we haven't paid them? $1.8 million.
Steve said we have waited this long. We should establish a deadline of work over the holdiays
and let them put their head in the noose.
Paul said we asked them for a letter explaining what work will be done over the holidays. It is
