being built to code . Presently, he is observing on non-code issues , which
is a first for SMMA.
Joe said the building inspector has ultimate control over the job, by law.
Ed said it is a big risk for him to stop the job.
He wants the Committee to understand that SMMA is doing their job. They are
working in the Committee ' s best interest , you should not create walls
between professionals who are trying to help you.
Merry Sue said it sounds like Bill Hauck is having the same problems SMMA
and the Committee are having with Stone - you tell them they are not doing
what they are supposed to do but they don't listen.
Ed said the Bill Hauck wants SMMA to supervise the job.
Joe said the architects are not construction managers .
Ed said he would like some kind of statement the Committee supports SMMA' s
position.
Bill Martiros suggested having Bill Hauck at the next meeting to discuss
and resolve this issue .
Jim said that Bill Hauck is frustrated. Joel sees non compliance by Stone ,
he notifies them and they keep working.
Joel said the only recourse is to cut their pay requisition.
Paul said he spoke with David Doneski , town counsel , about this issue . Mr.
Doneski has the correspondence from the building inspector regarding his
issues and is reviewing the contract . He will get back to Paul and then the
Committee can address it with SMMA. Mr. Doneski has to interpret the
contract and see what the legal obligations are . We should wait to see what
he has to say before setting up any meetings.
Paul will send this letter from Ed to town counsel .
THE NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING IS APRIL 9TH 4 : 00 P.M. HIGH SCHOOL SITE.
The following meeting is April 30th.
Meeting adjourned at 6 : 30 p.m.
Minutes submitted by Arden R. Cadrin
5
