l� ** Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen. for their approval and payment $26 , 934 . 96 for Chartwell for basic services, including clerk of the works and roofing inspector. Merry Sue seconded the motion. All members were in favor 6-0 . ** Paul said it would be wise for Janice to inform the School Committee that the Building Committee believes the job will be completed late. He cannot assess the amount of time it will be late by at this point. They should start planning as necessary. He also suggested they start talking with Bob Whritenour about funds for alternative space. Janice said there is no money in the school department budget for that. The pre-bid meeting for the sewage treatment operator proposals went fine . There is a meeting Thursday at 9 : 00 in Dr. DeMoura' s office with Mike Kirwin/CCR to talk about the video component. Paul had discussions with CCR about the telephone component . He told them to include a right to delay telephone installation. Each teacher will have a direct DID number. They will also bring in Centrax trunks to transfer within town and for overflow. Paul said the school may want to consider putting a few wireless phones in the package . It would be very useful in a school this size . It can be put in as an alternative . John Williams will ask CCR to include it . NEW BUSINESS Ed Frenette explained he has prepared a letter in response to Bill Hauck' s letter. SMMA disagree ' s with Bill ' s interpretation of their responsibility. SMMA does not have control over the site . The contractor supervises the site and the people working at it . Architects do no have the responsibility to stop construction. He disagrees fundamentally with Bill on this issue. He would like the Committee to review the letter and if they agree with SMMA' s position - that they are providing the services they are contracted for - he would like a statement or a vote of confidence from this Committee to the Selectmen. It is important to establish this now, this situation will get worse before it gets better. Joe asked Ed to explain what site observation means . Ed said a minimum, of site observation, every 2 weeks and some special observation. Bill asked, if they see something that is not right , where do they go with it? Ed said they tell the contractor to meet the contract documents . If they don' t understand the documents , SMMA provides clarification, verbal , written and graphic . Bill asked how Bill Hauck comes into play? Joe said the Building Inspector, by law, has to approve different phases of the project . If he sees a problem, he would rather work through the architect .
