He just wants the Committee to be
made aware of his opinion.
- Letter from the Fire Department: the fire alarm system is not
approved.
Joel explained SMMA' s electrical engineer met with the electrical
contractor and the Fire Department . The fire dept. wanted a
piece added to the system. SMMA has issued a proposal to add
those items . The fire dept . issued a permit subject to those
items being added.
Paul asked if they could have commented before this project going
to bid?
Joel said they could have.
Bill Hauck said they did comment before bidding but were told
these items would be added and they were not.
Joel disagrees. The drawings were reviewed by each department .
- Letter from Leo Jolly regarding the acid neutralization tank.
Joel said SMMA is developing the criteria to have it included and
the pump. It is a 250 gal tank with an 8x8x8 manhole. It will
be a large add to the contract . It is sized per the amount of
sinks .
Paul said if we will not be using acid in the building , why is it
required?
Bill Hauck said a variance can be applied for to the Plumbing
Board of Examiners.
Paul said the Committee is caught off guard - this is an
environmental issue, should be a DEP issue .
Joel said the State Inspector said he will not override the local
inspector' s decision.
Paul asked Joel to determine how to go about seeking a variance.
He asked Bill Hauck to speak to Leo Jolly about giving the
Committee a letter saying he will approve it without the tank
subject to the policy procedure manual being accepted by him and
the Cape Cod Commission.
MINUTES
** Merry Sue made a motion to approve the minutes of March
1
