r
Paul told John Williams we will need to know what classrooms will
not be used in 96/97 school year. These trailers have to be out
of here soon and Stone and Chartwell will need office space.
John will look at the plans , he thinks the first floor of section
B could be used, he will get back to Jim Byrne.
Tom said they still have not received a revised schedule from
Stone .
Paul discussed that with Alan Scott. Alan just needs the time to
do it . He asked Alan to make it a priority, but not to the extent
it would impact the progress at the site .
Peter said if we accept partial occupancy, how will it effect our
ability to assess damages?
Paul said we have to accept the building, per section, for
substantial completion, section A,B &E for July 23rd.
Peter asked if we are past the point of seriously considering
trailers?
Paul said they will wait on that decision. The committee will
discuss it on May 28th. The School Committee has to make a
decision by June lst.
Tom said that George Gunn has asked what else, besides sections
A,B & E will be required, i . e for furniture delivery, staff
access to the building, etc. The elevator will have to be
operational .
Joel will sit with him tomorrow to review it.
Pal said there will have to be discussions on how to handle
various scenarios . Will student dining area be ready, will
kitchen be ready, etc .
Joel asked about substantial completion of those rooms being used
as offices by Stone and Chartwell?
Paul said we would probably give Stone a waiver for that area, so
those offices don't have to move again. The rooms would have to
be complete except for carpet and tile .
CHANGE ORDERS
Paul discussed some possible ways to cut costs from the proposal
for the Superintendents space. Joel is meeting with Stone
tomorrow and will bring up his suggestion.
Peter asked if they did a cost benefit on this?
Paul said it is not beneficial to do it at this point . Because
this space will be used year round, he thinks it needs air
conditioning .
If they cannot bring the cost down, the Committee will give Stone
a directive to put in the walls and we will negotiate with Stone
for a third party to do the electrical/air conditioning work at
the end of the job.
Joel said if the price is not down after tomorrow' s meeting , he
will issue a CCD for wall and outlets.
3
