i
-$171.99 custodian
** Paul made a motion to forward to the Selectmen for payment invoice l for$36,309.64
and invoice 2 for$2,679.34 for a total of$38,988.98 for the above listed items. Merry
Sue seconded the motion. All members were in favor 5-0**
Wastewater Treatment plant: after discussing the problem with Joel, it was decided they would
take 6"of the hard fill out and bring in stone to create a drywell. Don Cook asked if there
landscaper could do it so as to proceed quickly.
Weston and Sampson believe the pump failed because of sand. The pump should be able to
handle the sand. Joel agreed there is a problem with why the pump failed. Joel sent Weston and
Sampson a letter.
** Paul made a motion to forward for payment an invoice for Chartwell for$14,529.88
for services for September. Merry Sue seconded the motion.
Paul explained there has been an increase because of Landers work.
**All members were in favor of the motion 5-0**
Jim explained that Landers started trenching for the site lighting. They dug up the irrigation line
two times. They are also doing damage to the sidewalks, loam and seed and ballfields.
We are holding$284,000. The lighting is worth only about $100,000.
Paul asked Joel to send a letter to Landers reminding them we plan to collect damages due to
delays. This contract was supposed to be complete 9 months ago. Jim Byrne is keeping track of
his time.
They are removing part of the fence around the track. They will have to secure it every night.
Budget:
- There is $17,586 remaining from Weston and Sampson's contract. The maintenance contract
has been switched to the School Department.
Deduct $5,500 for the additional VHB fees.
Kathy Lynch explained the Boosters already have a concession stand but the Athletic Dept
would like a press box, at the 50 yard line for the coaches to call plays and do video taping.
They would like a building the size of the field house. Eventually the boosters could build a
concession stand there and work on the water problem.
Merry Sue asked, if it is built with project money, does it have to be handicapped accessible?
Paul said it absolutely does. It would be a major project. The cost would probably exceed$60
per square foot because it is so small.
The bleachers are wheelchair accessible put could not accommodate a ramp to the press box.
Jim agreed, that with his knowledge of the handicap code, we would have to comply.
He does not think you could get an exemption, especially as part of a public job.
Paul suggested portable scaffolding with a full platform as another possibility, similar to those
used on golf courses.
Jim Byrne, Dr. DeMoura and John Williams will research this issue.
