J
Paul suggested asking Greg Taylor to talk to VHB. The State requested the intersection be
designed so traffic can pass through at 50 mph.
Dr. DeMoura said the flashing lights would just be at the beginning and end of the school day.
Paul has no objection to safety but they should discuss this with the State first.
Computer Training: Dr. DeMoura is waiting for the Committee to authorize the expenditure of
$10,000 for training.
Paul said the Committee is waiting for a list form the School Dept. The Committee already
authorized those funds.
Dr. DeMoura discussed the idea of building outdoor bathrooms, build an inexpensive building,
with toilets with well water and a septic system.
Paul said we would never get approval of any septic system. We had a hard time trying to find a
place for the sewage treatment plant.
Bill Martiros said they use composting toilets at South Cape Beach and they work very well.
Mike Pietrowski discussed a memo from John Williams. He explained they are requesting
additional video disk player because they are in demand for the science and foreign language
labs. A few years ago, when this equipment was purchased they did not know they would
become so popular.
Merry Sue asked why not use the central system?
Paul said his concern is going back to the Selectmen. We told them we were there for the final
time.
Joe asked who suffers is we don't approve the purchase?
Mike said there is more demand and less opportunity for them to be used. We have 2 units now
in the rack(central system)
Janice said we paid a lot of money for AMX,that should take care of it.
Paul suggested they refer the request to the School Committee. If they decide it should be
bought, bring the request back to the Committee. Janice agreed with this approach.
Paul is actively pursuing information on security system upgrades. He had some good spec
sheets sent to him. The School Department, in the long term, is better off upgrading the system.
Paul will get additional information and give it to Don Cook. We can then send it to 3
contractors to get proposals. Paul thinks we can come in under$10,000.
Mike Home explained next year we will have a varsity football team and will need a public
address system and a communication system for the coaches to talk to each other. He asked if
the Building Committee could purchase these items?
Mike Pietrowski suggested buying and mounting speakers and cabling and then using the
portable sound system in the field house, as an alternative.
Paul was concerned with mounting on the light poles.
He suggested they come back with a design and costs for various systems options. He would
4
