■ SECTION L• SCHOOL POLICIES/REGULATIONS REGISTRATION Preschool Preschool application is through the Community Partnership for Children office at 508-539-3048. Following this application, preschool registration takes place at the Coombs School Monday through Friday, 9am until l Iam during the following weeks: ■ • February 23 through February 27 • March 23 through March 27 • April 27 through May 1 Kindergarten . Registration packets for incoming kindergarteners will be mailed home in January of the school year to age-eligible children. Parents/guardians are asked to complete the . registration packet and bring it to the school's main office during the registration period. Kindergarten registration takes place Monday through Friday from 9am until l lam during the following weeks: • February 2 through February 6 • March 2 through March 6 . . April 6 through April 10 For further information,please call 508-539-1520 x 103. ■ ATTENDANCE POLICY Regular and punctual school attendance is essential for success in school. Parents/guardians of children attending our schools have special rights as well as responsibilities, one of which is to ensure that their children attend school regularly in accordance with State Law. The Massachusetts General Laws (Ch. 76, Sec. 2) specify that a student under sixteen years of age may not be absent more than seven ( ) days within any period of six (6) months. Students may be excused temporarily from school attendance for the following reasons: illness or quarantine,bereavement or serious illness in the family, weather so inclement as to endanger the health of the child, and for observance of major religious holidays. Please note this does not include elective vacations. A student's understanding of the importance of day-to-day school work is a major factor in . shaping his/her character. Parents/guardians can help their children by refusing to allow them to miss school needlessly. • It is required that all students will be in attendance for all classes for each school day. • If a student is absent, the parent/guardian is required to phone the school office on the day of the absence by 9:30am to report the absence.
