■
■
■ Homework will be assigned on weekends as appropriate. Homework will be considered
part of the student's grade. Teachers will check homework on a regular basis. Periodically,
■ students may be assigned a long-term project or assignment. Students may complete such
■ an assignment as quickly or leisurely as they choose. Deadlines for the project or
assignment are, however, expected to be met. Teachers may set grade penalties for late or
■ missing projects or assignments.
■ LOST AND FOUND
■ Please mark your child's name inside his/her coat, hat, gloves, backpack, lunchbox and other
belongings so that lost items may be returned to your child easily. Students who find
■ articles not belonging to them or who are missing items, should report it immediately to
their teacher and check in the main office and/or the lost and found area in the cafeteria.
■ The school cannot be responsible for replacing lost or stolen articles. It is required that all
■ valuable items be kept at home.
■
■ SEPTEMBER PREPARATION FOR SCHOOL
When preparing for school, keep in mind that the district provides almost everything for
■ your child. Your teacher will send home what he/she would like the children to have with
them for school (pencils, etc.). Buy a thin/narrow backpack for your child. Please do
■ not buy rolling backpacks unless your child has a medical condition which should be
■ brought to the nurse's attention. They are very hazardous in lines, on stairs, boarding
busses, etc. Also, three-ring binders at this age level are not required unless a specific
■ teacher asks that you purchase them. When buying lunch boxes, please keep in mind
something your child can open easily!
■
■ NO SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
■ If school is cancelled, announcements will be made on the local radio stations WBZ,WCIB,
WPXY, WQRC, and WXTK and television stations, 4, 5, 7, and 25 after 5:30am and at
■ regular intervals thereafter.
■
■ DELAYED OPENING AND EARLY CLOSING
■ DELAYED OPENING
A decision to delay should be made by 6:OOam. All school start times will be delayed two
■ hours.
Regular Schedule: Delayed Schedule:
■ K-2 8:50am-3:20pm 10:50am-3:20pm
■ 3-6 8:15am-2:30pm 10:15am-2:30pm
7-12 7:30am-1:45pm 9:30am-1:45pm
■ If the delay is changed to a cancellation, the decision will be made by 8:OOam. If by
■ 8:OOam no cancellation has been announced, school is to be held and staff and students are
to follow the delay schedule.
■
■ 21
■
