■ <br /> ■ <br /> ■ <br /> ■ <br /> EARLY CLOSING ■ <br /> A decision to close early should be made by 10:30am except in the case of an unforeseen <br /> emergency. We will normally close two hours early at all schools from their regularly ■ <br /> scheduled dismissal times. <br /> ■ <br /> All students in PK-2 will have their parents/guardians called to notify them of the early closing. ■ <br /> If we are unable to reach them, their child(ren) will be kept at the Kenneth C. Coombs School's <br /> cafetorium until they are able to be picked up. ■ <br /> Early Closing Schedule ■ <br /> K-2 1:20pm <br /> 3-6 12:30pm ■ <br /> 7-12 11:45am <br /> ■ <br /> Procedures for delayed opening and early dismissal notification will be the same as no school ■ <br /> cancellation procedures. <br /> ■ <br /> PASSES ■ <br /> Students must have authorization to be out of a classroom when class is in session. This ■ <br /> permission is given through the use of a student pass which is issued by the teacher permitting <br /> the student to be away from class. Otherwise, a student is accompanied by an adult. ■ <br /> A student arriving late to school must obtain an office pass for admission. A student arriving late ■ <br /> must be escorted to the office by a parent/guardian or a person designated by them and must have <br /> a note from the parent/guardian regarding the reason for tardiness. A child is tardy at 8:55'am. ■ <br /> SEARCHES ■ <br /> Searches of students, their hand-carried belongings, lockers or desks shall be conducted only ■ <br /> by the building Principal or his/her designee and are to be based upon a reasonable suspicion <br /> that a substance or object is present which is potentially harmful to that student or to others. ■ <br /> A reasonable suspicion may be the result of: ■ <br /> • personal observation <br /> • report from another student ■ <br /> • report from a parent/guardian <br /> • report from an officer of the law ■ <br /> • report from a teacher <br /> Teachers are to report to the Principal all information pertaining to the presence of substance or ■ <br /> objects which are not conducive to the health and well-being of students. ■ <br /> Teachers or police officials who are in possession of information which raises a suspicion, ■ <br /> reasonable or not, are not authorized to search students. <br /> ■ <br /> ■ <br /> 22 ■ <br /> ■ <br />
