COOMBS SCHOOL <br /> SCHOOL COUNCIL MINUTES <br /> Meeting of April 29, 2008 <br /> Main Office Conference Room <br /> The meeting was called to order at 3:30pm. <br /> Present were: Ms. Claudia Motta(Assistant Principal), Mrs. Palmer(Teacher Representative), <br /> Mrs. Alison Taylor(Parent Representative) Mrs. Barbara Cotton(Parent Representative) <br /> No one was present for open forum. <br /> The council members approved the minutes from the March meeting. <br /> The council members discussed the KCC School Improvement Plan (SIP) for FY09. The <br /> Council unanimously approved Goals 1-4, regarding Academic Achievement. <br /> Goal 1, 85% of KC Coombs preschool students will meet late-spring Work Sampling <br /> benchmarks with `in process' or `proficient' ratings prior to entering kindergarten. <br /> Goal 2, 85% of KC Coombs preschool student will meet late-May/early-June TROLL <br /> (Teacher Rating of Oral Language Literacy) prior to entrance into kindergarten. <br /> Goal 3, 85% of preschool students will meet end-of-the-year Reading Street benchmarks in <br /> literacy. <br /> Goal 4, Students will demonstrate DIBELS improvement to the next benchmark. <br /> • 50% of students who are at-risk will move to the some-risk or low-risk category <br /> • 25% of students in any at-risk sub-category(by ethnicity, special education,ELL, <br /> low income, Title One, regular education)will show at least 50% improvement and <br /> movement from at-risk to some-risk or low-risk in the DIBELS assessment. <br /> Goal 5, Academic Achievement <br /> 20% of below-level students in literacy will demonstrate on-level or above-level benchmarks <br /> in the Reading Street end-of-the-year assessments. <br /> School Council members amended goal 5, Academic Achievement, to read as follows: <br /> 20% of below-level students in grades K, I & 2 in literacy will demonstrate on-level or <br /> above-level benchmarks in the Reading Street end-of-the-year assessment. <br /> Council members unanimously approved the amended change to goal 5. <br />
