j Psychology of the Young Children
Special Education and Inclusion
Reading/Language Arts/Math Curriculums
l How to Become a Paraprofessional
Any new posting for hire will require that a paraprofessional be CDA certified or have a 12 credit I I'
! equivalent in specific course areas for early childhood.
PBIS training with Martha Wally took place on Monday, February 12 regarding SWIS.org• Trainin
g
i provided ways to input data and demonstrated how to generate reports. The District will purchase
the licenses for SWIS.org. Waiting until March to purchase the licenses will allow us to receive
I
three months at no charge and the district would purchase the license for next year. Cost is
III approximately $700 for the district. I'
Twenty seven staff members at KCC responded to the on-line PBIS school survey. Approximatly 17
families did also. Ratings at KCC were very insignificant. (That's good!) This indicates good,
I
positive behavior and discipline at KCC. Preventions were very high on the graph. Highest was
cultural diversity. Yeah! Counselors, principal and secretary will input data and generate reports. j
All other staff will have read-only access to the program.
I
The KCC Pyramid of Interventions and the timeline for the pyramid were discussed. This will be
presented to the staff. ;I
Next Steps —Timeline for the pyramid will be observed by staff. Recommend four weeks from the
start of school for students "not meeting benchmarks". Interventions should begin immediately. .
The aim is to catch students quickly with time and programs so they can succeed.
Report cards were also discussed. Currently there are three report cards used at KCC. Suggestion
was made to develop uniform report cards for all students in K-2. Preschool is using work sampling II
three times yearly and will continue to do so. The Council discussed a standards-based report. All
students will begin school on the same day next year. Kindergarten will not start a week later than
IIIother grades.
Motion was made to adjourn by Kim Palmer which was seconded by Mary Russell unanimously
approved.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, March 7`h at 3:30pm.
Respectfully submitted, Ili
it i I
Kim Palmer
lill
II i'I
