the actual visit sometime between March and May, 2007. Hopefully, accreditation will
follow the actual validation visit. In the meanwhile, Mrs. Doyle continues classroom tour
observations to ensure that all staff are in compliance with standards and criteria for
NAEYC. A continued concern regarding paraprofessional qualifications is being
addressed. Present requirements seek to have at least 50% of all paraprofessionals in
preschool and 50% of all paraprofessionals in kindergarten with a Child Development
Associates (CDA) or a 12 credit equivalent. Mrs. Doyle is working in conjunction with
staff members and the district curriculum coordinator regarding the feasibility of an
adjunct professor affiliated with a local college who would present courses on site for
paraprofessionals. This is part of the school's action plan because at present, this criteria
is not being met. Mrs. Doyle will also check with the Cape Cod Collaborative,Joe
Gilbert and Esther Owens to see if anything is being done on a Cape wide level. This
action plan has been discussed with the Superintendent of Mashpee Public Schools, Ann
Bradshaw.
Other business:
The Coombs School will conduct a Mathathon in conjunction with the PTO. The original
date of April 2nd has been changed to May 7`h per staff and parent requests. All work in
preparation for this event is already completed. Monies raised will go to the PTO.
Friday, March 9°i is a district professional development day. Staff at Coombs will begin
with Sub Online training at the Mashpee High School computer labs. Everything else for
the day will be site based. In the morning, preschool and kindergarten staff will work on
accreditation classroom portfolios in preparation for the mock and actual validation visits.
Grades 1, 2 and all other staff will work on student assessment portfolios and data
collection of student progress. In the afternoon, all staff will be involved in a workshop'
on differentiated instruction. Concentration will he placed on reaching the more
advanced student and how to challenge these students appropriately.
The next meeting will review the Positive Behavior Intervention Support program and
timeline for thiJ s 'y'ear. The council will. also ,........ and evaluate progress on the School
11It
Improvement Plan and the action timeline. If time allows, the council will then review
the.school's Pyramid of Interventions and the.action timeline associated with it.
At 4:30 PM, motion was made by Leslie Estep to adjourn. This was seconded by Mary
Russell.
