All waters of the town of Mashpee are open to the taking of scall <br /> to both family and commercial shellfish ops <br /> permit holders , including all �. <br /> private shellfish grant areas , ( subject to method restrictions outlined <br /> in Regulation 7 ) . <br /> 3. All waters of the town are open to family permit holders seven <br /> week . Al1 waters are open to commercial days a <br /> permit holders six days a week . <br /> Commercial permit holders are not allowed to fish oh—their commercial <br /> permits on Sundays . <br /> 4. All scallops are to be landed in the she il . Shucking scallops or <br /> of shucked scallop meats before coming ashore is PROHIBITED , possession <br /> 5. Seed- Taking or possession of seed scallops is PROHIBITED . A seed scallop <br /> is defined as one that lacks a, welI -defined annualrowth rin <br /> g g , regardless � I <br /> of the size or weight of the individual shellfish . <br /> 6. Catch limits- Family shellfish permit holders are allowed to take up to <br /> i <br /> one bushel of scallops per week . ' <br /> i ' <br /> Commercial shellfish permit holders are allowed to take up to ten bushels j <br /> of scallops per day . <br /> A bushel of scallops shall be defined as <br /> equal to four pecks , or forty I <br /> quarts dry measure . A standard five gallon plastic bucket equals twenty <br /> � i <br /> quarts or one half bushel . <br /> 1. Methods of hartYest- From October fi <br /> rst through March * thirtieth scallops may <br /> be taken by hand , rake or di net exce t on <br /> p � p private shellfish grant areas <br /> where it is limited to hand or dipnet so as not to di { ' <br /> sturb propagated i <br /> shellfish or aquaculture gear . <br /> Dragging for scallops is allowed under the following restrictions : <br /> a . Dragging the main channels of Waquoit Bay and Popponesset Bay is <br /> allowed from sunrise on November 1 , 1990 to sundet on March 30, 1991 . <br /> i.' <br /> b. Dragging in Little River, Great River, Hamblin Pond , dndl. Jehu Pond <br /> is PROHIBITED . <br /> C . Scallop drags are limited to a maximum width of 36 inches . <br /> d . No more than two drags are to be in the water at any one time per boat . <br /> e . No more than two permit holders shall fish from any one boat -at any <br /> one time . <br /> f . All cull material shall be returned to the channels from which it was <br /> removed - No cull material shall be deposilted on the flats or shallows , <br /> or deposited on shore except for shellfish predators as defined in <br /> Article 3 , Section 16 of the General Shelilfish Regulations . <br /> 9 . No shellfishing for scallops is allowed when the air temperature falls <br /> below 28 degrees Fahrenheit . (This is to prevent mortality to seed <br /> scallops from freezing . ) <br />
