Article 31 continued.
1
1
William Ethier •: Mashpee Police Department. I would like to amend this
Article, may I do this?
Moderator: Yes sir.
William Ethier •: I would like to amend this Article by striking 6:OOP;
and inserting 9:OOPM. The reason: being, it would bell
unenforceable in the summertime. Since it stays light ,
until about 9:30 P.M. and people comp here for recree
tion, this Is -basically a house-keeping law. You can
not ask the Police to go running-around at 6:OOP.M.
in the summer to enforce this with traffic at its pea ,;:
The Police Department has better thing to do than
chasing water skiers at rg:OOP.M. .
motion seconded
Moderator: A motion has been made and seconded to strike 6:OOP.A
and ins ert..:9:COP.114.
Is the Harbormaster here? Mr goblinski; Do you have
any idea as to the hours that the State laws prohibit
Mr goblinski: skiing and water bikes after a certain hour?
.The law sta'es one-half hour before sunset.
Moderator: Mrs Jacobson
Mrs Jacobson: Mr. Eithier mentioned people come down here for recre
ation. There are people who come here who do not like
high powered motor boats and jet- skis buzzing
around. All we are asking for is a little peace and
quiet in the morning and at the dinner hour. As far s
the policing by the department, each -pond has an asst
ant harbormaster. We would like somepeaceful re-
creation.
Mr goblinski: There have been many complaints about the noise from
jet-skis and water-skiers.Some suggestions were to I
eliminate watar skis entirely, which I didnt was fain
We settled on this Article so both sides would get
something.
Moderator: I will recognize Town Counsel.
Mr. Reardon: The Article as it is presented by the Harbormaster i 1
permissable -even though there is State law operating
this area. It is permissable as it is more restricts
than the Stats lawand in order for the Harbormaster
get this law on the books, he had to do it this way, '
via a by-law amendment, He is mindful of the fact the !
law states I- hour after sunrise and -j hour before sun
set. But, as I indicated to you this is more restrict
ive. I thought this information would be of interest a
to the voters.
Moderator: Mr Ethier ', do you wish to withdraw your amendment?
William Ethier-: Nov not at this time SS
Moderator: Mr. O'Connell i
