Housing Appeals Board under G.L. <br /> Chapter 40B, with such transfer to be made subject to a permanent deed restriction, which may p . . <br /> contain a reverter clause, permanently restricting the sale or resale price, or rental cost, of any <br /> homes or apartments constructed on said parcels to no more than that considered affordable for <br /> persons of low income as defined by the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development and <br /> qualified for continued listing in the above affordable housing inventory; and finally, to authorize ' <br /> the Board of Selectmen to convey such parcels for such affordable housing purposes, and to <br /> make use of other instrumentalities of the Town or other agencies and to enter into any <br /> agreements necessary, to effect the transfer of such land in accordance with this article, or take <br /> any other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: This article would authorize the Selectmen to transfer title to two lots located in <br /> Route 28 east of Orchard Road, previously taken by the Town for non-payment of taxes, to <br /> persons or agencies that would construct affordable homes or apartments. The lots total 17,500 <br /> square feet, and would be developed with the approval of the Board of Selectmen under the <br /> "Local Initiative Program" and G.L. Chapter 40B, as was done with a number of lots previously <br /> deeded by the Town to Habitat for Humanity.
