The only Town land close enough to the salt water that is large enough to accommodate the dredged material (and not in a zone II well recharge area) is now held as conservation land. The Town needs a site that can be used over the long term, when and as needed, to de-water the material dredged from the navigation channels. The material is not suitable for beach nourishment due to its silt content, and cannot be de-watered anywhere that it might affect a potable groundwater supply, or affect fresh-water wetlands.
