,I i ownership or the keeping of the dog and the assumption of responsibility by the licensed owner or keeper . The Animal Control Officer may prosecute a complaint against the owner or keeper of any dog taken into his custody under this section , as provided for in this article and in Chapter 140 Section 173A I of the General Laws, as applicable . d. The Animal Control Officer having custody of a dog confined under this article shall be allowed the sum of three ($3.00) dollars per day for each day of confinement for the care of such dog payable by the owner or keeper thereof . Any sums so collected shall be paid over to the treasurer or the Town pursuant to Chapter 44 Section 53 i of the General Laws. e . Violation of this article shall be . punishable as follows: First offense by a fine of ten ($10 .00) dollars. Second offense by a fine of twenty ($20 .00) dollars. Third offense by a fine of thirty � ($30 .00) dollars. Fourth and each subsequent offense by a fine of fifty ($50 .00) dollars. j After the recording of a. fourth offense , the Animal Control Officer may request the Board of Selectmen to hold a hearing pursuant to the provisions of Chapter 140 , Section 157 of the Mass. General Laws and to make disposition of the dog in accordance with the provisions of said law. (Amended at Special Town Meeting, I December 2, 1985 approved by Attorney .General February 11 , 1986) .
