Mark Garner, a principal of Cape Waterslide , Inc . , indicated <br /> that the initial amount of water to be used would be 4500 gallons and <br /> that a $20, 000 . 00 filter system would be installed, which would be <br /> inspected and regulated by the Board of Health, and that the only <br /> water loss would be through evaporation. <br /> Mrs . Thomas . again spoke out concerning her view that this project <br /> would increase substantially the amount of traffic in the area and would <br /> cause harm to an already. bad situation. <br /> Mr . Dunning indicated that in his opinion there would be no traffic <br /> problem at all because all parking would be off of Donna ' s Lane and that <br /> traffic would be funneled along Donna ' s Lane to Great Neck Road . Great <br /> Neck Road intersects with Route 28 at the Mashpee Rotary a short distance <br /> from where 'Donna ' s Lane enters it. <br /> Mr. Walter Canning and Mrs — Canning, both spoke relative to the <br /> project . Mrs . Canning owns land on the other side of .Route 28 from <br /> the project locus . Mr . Canning indicated that in his opinion there was <br /> no merit to the project and that he did not know how it could possibly <br /> be in the best interest of the community to permit this amusement <br /> project to be built . He recorded his opposition and that of Mrs . Canning . <br /> Selectman Chester A. Garland indicated that he was concerned over <br /> the usage of water, and further made known his opposition to the project <br /> on the basis that it would not be in the best interest of the Town to <br /> grant the special permit. He felt that this type of outdoor amusement <br /> activity was not appropriate for this location. He commented that traffic <br /> would be a problem and a depletion of the water resource for an amusement <br /> activity was not appropriate . He also indicated that this area was <br /> important to the Town and that an amusement or entertainment recreational <br /> activity located outdoors was not a good use. <br /> Mr. Harry Jansen voiced his opposition to the project and desired <br /> to be recorded as opposed to the allowance of this type of permit . He <br /> stated that he thought the 'project was not beneficial in any way to the <br /> inhabitants of the Town. <br /> Mr. Stanley Anderson spoke in opposition to the project and stated <br /> that he did not believe the project could be successful if it was hidden <br /> from view. He stated that in order .for any business to be successful <br /> it had to have high visibility and he could not understand how the <br /> Petitioner could suggest that the project would not be visible from Route 28 <br /> or from Great Neck Road He wanted to be recorded as opposed. <br /> Mr . Joseph Gracia, an abutter to locus , indicated his opposition to <br /> the proposed project and felt that there was no need for the same . <br /> He indicated that this type of activity was not good for the Town and <br /> for this area in particular. <br /> Mrs . Dorothy Stone, Mr . Fred Blythe, Mr . Gilmore Gessner, and <br /> Mrs . Kelliiuni, then all s.poke in opposition to the project and indicated <br /> that they felt that it was not in the best interest of the Town. <br /> Mr. Perry Ellis , an employee of the owner of Locus , spoke in favor <br /> of the project. <br />
