MASHPEE MIDDLE SCHOOL <br /> SCHOOL COUNCIL <br /> MEETING DATE : NOVEMBER 6 , 1995 <br /> I . 7 : OOPM - Introductions are made . <br /> Members in attendance : Donna McCaffrey, Mary Marsters , <br /> Carol Russell , Barbara Kasher, Mike Persico, Debbie Greene, <br /> Robert Tippo. <br /> _. . <br /> Members absent: Arthur Morley <br /> Officers decided upon - Secretary - Mary Marsters <br /> Co-Chair - Carol Russell <br /> II . Robert Tippo describes the purpose of the School Council . <br /> We are a Primary Advisory Council or PAC. <br /> In 1993 schools were instructed to form councils . <br /> Hand out of Handbook - by Robert Tippo - <br /> Went on to explain questions concerning handbook. Some <br /> pages and numbers were highlighted: <br /> pg. 3 - organization of the Council <br /> pg. 4 - purpose is to develop school improvement plan - <br /> we advise only. <br /> pg. 5 - term of office - 1 year. <br /> The 1996 split is discussed - there will be 2 MMS Councils <br /> next year. <br /> pg. 6 - can a teacher at another school serve as <br /> "otherperson" - YES . <br /> pg. 7 - Asst. Principal cannot be on the Council . <br /> Budget is discussed: <br /> Teachers and dept. heads form budgets; we as a council <br /> give Lincoln DeMoura our input - he brings to school <br /> Committee . They make final budget decisions . <br /> - back to handbook - <br /> Council cannot be involved with collective bargaining. <br /> pg. 8 - went over each element of school improvement <br /> plan -- there are 9 . <br /> Ed Reform Act book is discussed - Bob asks who wants a copy. <br /> - Mike Persico only. <br /> III . Time on Learning is discussed. 900 elem. grade hours. <br /> Reorganization is discussed - how the random selection <br /> process took place - 96 split will happen the same way. <br />
