Page 2
$29,090.17 as of June 1995 totalling $49,586.17.
Vehicles
Ms. King gave everyone a copy of the Automobile Fleet Schedule and
asked that liaisons review their departments' vehicles. Mr. Goggin
suggested that the Town create a policy as to who should 'get
assigned a vehicle, etc. He brought up the fact that the Finance
Committee had agreed to support the Police Department with their
leased vehicles providing they trade in their old cars. Mr. Goggin
was still concerned that the old police cars were being given to
other departments. Mr. Bacigalupi stated that any employee who
needs to get from their home to their job in an emergency is able
to bring a vehicle home. Mr. Golub asked the secretary to find
correspondence previously sent by the Executive Secretary regarding
the Town Vehicle Policy. Ms. King also agreed that some important
questions needed to be answered. Mr. Golub suggested that the
Executive Secretary should request in his budget packets that each
department head justify their need for a vehicle and why a personal
vehicle could not be used, etc. Mr. Golub felt that a proper time
to discuss this would be when meeting with the Executive Secretary
prior to the start of budget season.
Mr. Golub also stated that if and when the Finance Committee's
comments get into the newspaper they could also voice their
opinions on other issues. He also stated that when the Capital
Improvement Committee gets going again, he would address this with
them.
DARE Officer
Mr. Bacigalupi spoke to the Police chief and stated that the Chief
still believes that the school should pay 1/2 of this officer's
salary. Mr. Bacigalupi will address this at the joint meeting next
Tuesday.
Court Dismissal
Ms. King informed the Committee that she had passed along the
Finance Committee's recommendation. She stated that rumor has it
that the Plaintiff will not accept this Stipulation. The issue
appears to be that the Plaintiff wants (open meeting) deleted from
the Stipulation. The Town is currently awaiting word from Town
Counsel.
Assessor's Abatement Account
Ms. King asked that Dan Goggin, liaison, find out what is presently
in Mr. Bailey's Abatement Account.
Ms. King also informed the Committee that the Town had unionized.
