6 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> December 17, 2001 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Public Hearing—Echo Road: <br /> Selectman Cahalane opened the Public Hearing on the conversion of Echo <br /> Road from a private to a public way. <br /> Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works disclosed a betterment assessment <br /> estimate for the roadway acceptance. The projected assessment to be <br /> borne by each of the 12 property owners is a sum estimate not to exceed <br /> $16,220.83. If the property owners elect to move forward with the <br /> conversion, a second hearing would be scheduled prior to placement of the <br /> article on the May Town Meeting warrant. <br /> The material relative to the process was disclosed to the Board of <br /> Selectmen for informational purposes. The matter was taken under <br /> advisement at this time. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Taylor. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Appointment of Skilled Laborer—DPW: <br /> Michael Finlayson was the recommended candidate for appointment to the <br /> DPW as a Skilled Laborer. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Taylor to appoint Michael Finlayson to <br /> the full-time position of Skilled Laborer to the DPW contingent upon <br /> a pre-employment physical examination. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> Active Duty—Benefits: <br /> For informational purposes, it was noted that Patrolman Glenn Gillan, <br /> Mashpee Police Department has had his health coverage reinstated. Mr. <br /> Gillan has been placed on active duty with the Air National Guard unit <br /> since the September 11, 2001 tragedy. <br />
