5 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 19, 2002 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Department of Public Works—Request to Apply for Grant(s): <br /> Two grant applications for fiscal year 2003 to benefit municipal recycling <br /> were presented to the Selectmen by Catherine Laurent,Assistant DPW <br /> Director. <br /> The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection(DEP) is <br /> again offering grants to municipalities for the purchase of equipment <br /> and/or educational materials for recycling. <br /> In FY02, Mashpee received a roll-off container and customized <br /> educational materials consisting of a brochure on recycling which was <br /> mailed to all residents by the DEP. The grant application for recycling <br /> brochures is again requested. No local match is required. <br /> The additional grant would fund the purchase of wheeled recycling carts <br /> • for the municipal building recycling program. A 50%local match is <br /> required. Fifteen containers cost approximately $800. The match could <br /> be funded from the existing Transfer Station recycling budget. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille to approve the(2) grant <br /> application requests of the Department of Public Works as requested <br /> funding a maximum of$1,500 in matching funds for the wheeled <br /> recycling carts. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalan. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Acceptance of Resignations: <br /> Department of Public Works: <br /> Correspondence was received from Ted Freeman dated August 7, 2002 <br /> resigning from the position of Truck Driver with the Mashpee Highway <br /> Department effective August 23, 2002. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to accept the resignation of Ted <br /> Freeman as Truck Driver from the Department of Public Works. <br /> • Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
