<br />The Special Town Meeting adjourned at 8:30. The Annual Town Meeting
<br />began with Article 1 at 8:35.
<br />ARTICLE 1. To choose all necessary Town Officials who are not
<br />elected under the Australian Ballot System:
<br />Burial Agent Herring Warden
<br />ACTION: Burial Agent, Oliver Pocknett and Herring Warden,
<br />Robert J. Courtemenche. Motion Moved and seconded to accept above
<br />nomination. Each person received one vote.
<br />ARTICLE 2. To see if the Town will vote to accept the Town Officers'
<br />Reports.
<br />' ACTION: Chairman, John Ferguson, reported on the progress of the
<br />new middle school. Moved and seconded to accept the Town Officers'
<br />Reports. Motion carried.
<br />ARTICLE 3. To see if the Town will hear and act upon the reports
<br />of any committee for any purpose the Town may deem advisable.
<br />ACTION: moved and seconded to indefinitely postpone
<br />Article 3. Vote carried.
<br />ARTICLE 4. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Town
<br />Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money
<br />from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial
<br />year beginning July 1, 1977, in accordance with the provisions of
<br />General Laws, Chapter 44, Section 4, and to issue a note or notes
<br />as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordnace
<br />with General Laws, Chapter 44, Section 17. (Submitted by the Trsurer)
<br />ACTION: Motion made and seconded to accept Article 4 as read.
<br />Vote carried.
<br />ARTICLE 5. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate
<br />or taka from available funds the sum of 561,000.00 for the purchase
<br />of a postage machine. (Submitted by the Treasurer)
<br />' necommendee by the Finance Committee.
<br />ACTION: Moved and Seconded to raise and appropriate the sum of
<br />$1,000.00 to purchase a postage machine. Vote carried.
<br />ARTICLE 6. To see if the Town will vote to assume liability in
<br />the manner provided by Section 29 of Chapter 91 of the General Laws
<br />as recently amended by Chapter 5, Acts of 1955 for all damages that
<br />may be incurred by work to be performed by the Department of Public
<br />Works of Massachusetts for the improvement, development maintenence
<br />and protection of tidal and non -tidal rivers and streams and harbors,
<br />tidewaters, foreshores and shores along a public beach in accordance
<br />with Section XI of Chapter 91 of the General Laws, and authorize
<br />tje Selectmen to execute and deliver a bond of indemnity therefor
<br />to the Commonwealth. (Submitted by the Board of Selectmen).
<br />ACTION: Moved and seconded to accept as read. Vote carried.
<br />ARTICLE 7. To see if the Town will vote to fix the salaries of the
<br />following elected officers as provided in Section 108, Chapter 41
<br />of the General Lays for the period of July 1, 1977 to June 30, 1978.
