Mr. York also reported that the pond was low and he is investigating who may have pulled some of <br /> the boards. Committee members discussed the possibility of who may have been responsible. The <br /> Agent reported that, in order to prevent the dam from collapsing,boards were pulled to lower the <br /> water level during the spring season. Mr. Baker reported that all boards werein place on September <br /> ,but that the boards had been removed by October 7. Mater measurements indicated that the <br /> water pitch was approximately 3 inches with the pond water down .3 feet in one month. lir. York <br /> suggested that the boards should be re-installed and the Agent agreed,noting that it was necessary <br /> in order to sustain the herring run. <br /> tepee Diver Update <br /> The Chair reported that the RFP process is complete and has been accepted by the Board of <br /> Selectmen. The waterways Commission is currently making plans for the sediment. 'fir. Baker <br /> expressed his concern about the blending proposal. The Chair is re-scheduling a meeting nth the <br /> Chair of the Waterways Commission to seek clarification about the proposal. Committee member <br /> discussed-the proposal to blend the mouth spoils with the 1916 spoils on the spit,and the likelihood <br /> that the spoils would be incompatible. Mr. York suggested that the Mate may not allow it. <br /> Action Items <br /> Environmental Education-No change <br /> Mashpee River Restoration-Awaiting 'waterways Commission <br /> Combine Water-Sewer-Awaiting Town Meeting, membership has been mncreased to <br /> NaturalFertilizers-No change <br /> Grant Applications-No change,no Textron funds received <br /> Town-Wide Storm Water Management Plan-Catherine Laurent has been in receipt of documents <br /> from the Planning Board's engineer, Charlie Rowley. Ms. Laurent is reviewing the draft of the <br /> Subdivision Regulations and Mr. Rowley wishes to add love impact development techniques to the <br /> document. Members of the Environmental Oversight Committee expressed interest m reviewing a <br /> final version of the document. <br /> Santuit Pond-No change <br /> Land Steward Pram-In process <br /> Technology Applications-No action <br /> ecycl ;-Ms. Laurent presented a proposal at the recent Board of Selectrnen meeting,which has <br /> been accepted,to offer single stream recycling at the'Transfer station. The Chair reported that all <br /> items would be combined and the recycler will separate the items. It has been determined that, <br /> although there is a charge for this type of recycling,the cost will be offset by the income generated <br /> from increased recycling, due to convenience for residents. ,Increased recycling will also serve to <br /> reduce the costs incurred by the Town to transport solid waste. Committee members expressed <br /> concern that single stream recycling may result in reduced recycling because residents may revert to <br /> placing all items in the trash. Other options, such as "pay-as-you-throw," are being considered in <br /> 4 <br />
