The ram added nutrients that caused ph toplankto blooms in the estuaries. <br /> The algae blooms were dominated by diatoms,which are ideal for shellfish food and created good <br /> conditions for shellfish this year. Bay scallops were prevalent this year allowing 50 people to <br /> collect therm. Mr. York added that the Tribe's Environmental Department,funded with federal <br /> fids, has hired Tony Perry to assist with propagation and other projects. The Tribe received f rods <br /> and is growing quahogs and oysters to be seeded for all Mashpee residents. The Tribe has also <br /> received funds for their aquaculture grant site. The Shellfish Department and the Tribe are working <br /> cooperatively. Mr. York reported that Mashpee is the only town that has maintained oar increased <br /> propagation. A shell fishing class for Mashpee youth has also been initiated. <br /> MEETING ADJOURNMENT <br /> Motion made by Mr. Baker to adjourn the meeting at 8:50 p.m. Motion seconded by Mr. <br /> Theis.
